After having tried his luck at getting into some breakaways yesterday in Andalucia, today in stage 4 Andy Schleck made good an attack and helped form the four man break that would animate the greater portion of the day. Though they were caught with around fifteen kilometers to go to the finish line, Schleck was happy to be in the thick of the action, even winning top points over the day’s single categorized climb. The day was always going to come down to a sprint finish with Oscar Freire (Rabobank) opening up his tally of wins for the season. The finale was marred by a crash. Radio Shack’s Markel Irizar keeps the overall lead going into the final stage.
Andy finished in 93rd place and is standing in the overall clasification in place 95 with 24:15 minutes to the leader Markel Irizar Aranburu
