Last stage Tour of California
Michael Rogers Conquered Tour Of California
by Rosso

The 134 kilometer long and final stage of Tour of California was not just a parade on the circuit around Agoura Hills, north of Los Angeles as the course contained tough climbs and technical challenges on the tricky descents.

A breakaway of seven riders counting George Hincapie (BMC) and Yaroslav Popovycj (Radioshack) slipped away from the peloton and left the chase to a group of favorites where Team Saxo Bank was represented by Andy.

Only 18 kilometers to go, the three-time winner of the race, Levi Leipheimer (Radioshack) launched an attack but Michael Rogers (Columbia) wearing the leader's jersey quickly closed the gap. But the attack initiated a series of counter-attacks to sink the Australian rider in the leader's jersey.

The huge efforts turned out to be unsuccessful and Michael Rogers (Columbia) could raise his fist in triumph when he crossed the finish line behind the front group where Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin) proved to be the fastest rider ahead of George Hincapie (BMC).

Rogers wins the overall classification. Zabriskie is second and Leipheimer came in third.

Andy is in place 21 in the overall classification. Andy:
"ATOC finish thanks to all the Fans and all the support!!!nice to see that I got so mutch Fans here in the US!I be back next year! "
