Team Saxo Bank's delegation in Tour de Suisse has proven to be in promising condition three weeks before entering the Tour de France. Yesterday, the Schleck brothers and Dane, Jakob Fuglsang dominated the queen stage and today, the Danish national champion, Matti Breschel went away in a long break on the 204 kilometer stretch from Savognin to Wetizikon.
However, the Danish cobblestone specialist didn't follow Marcus Burghardt (BMC) when broke clear of the front group with nearly 60 kilometers to go and kept a one minute gap to a chase group on the way to the closing circuit on Wetzikon.
Here, the BMC-rider waved the German flag in triumph as he crossed the finish line as the winner of the seventh stage. In the following group, teammate Mathias Frank was sweeping up points for the mountain and point jersey and he is now leader of both classifications.
Robert Gesink (Rabobank) is still in the overall lead of the race which ends with a race against the clock on Sunday. Andy finished today in 69th place and is still standing in the overall clasification in place 11.
